As you look around our area at other communities, it is clear that Brighton is falling behind in terms of the infrastructure, technology and facilities that our schools have to support it’s students – our kids. As a parent of two boys, I certainly want the best that can be provided for my kids. Academically, Brighton does well on testing compared to other school districts in our area. But the infrastructure to support them is falling way behind. They don’t have access to the technology that other kids in other districts have. And our facilities are literally falling apart. Do we all want a new football facility for our kids to play in – sure. But there is clearly much more too it than that. I want my kids to have the same opportunities as the kids in South Lyon, Hartland, Howell and Catholic Central. When our kids get to college, they’ll be competing with many kids from all over the country that have had opportunities that our kids haven’t had access to, putting them at a competitive disadvantage right from the start.

And if that’s not enough, we all have to think about our property values. What is the first thing everyone looks at when they consider moving to a community – the schools. If that’s a significant criteria for someone moving in, then as it stands right now, many would choose almost any school district around us before choosing us.

Brighton used to be one of the best districts in the state. We can decide on May 8th to make a significant step toward restoring that reputation and all the good things that come with it. Please make plans to vote on May 8th, and please reach out to others in the district to do the same. Our kids future depends on it.

To players, coaches, and parents I am wishing you all a safe, fun, and
successful year on the field and off the field. Its the greatest time of the
year! I am also inviting all of you to attend all of our games on Friday
nights.

>Our program is off to a great start as all 3 levels have combined for an
over all record of 8 – 1 through 3 weeks. With combined scores of all 3
levels for the first 3 weeks of us scoring 294 and our opponent scoring 48.

The High School players have enjoyed coming to your practices. We want to
thank you for making a tunnel in our first game against Wayne Memorial, our
guys loved it! You guys got them fired up! I have enjoyed seeing many of you
play in games so far this year, I am traveling to get to as many different
levels and games as I can this year.

Our last regular season home game is October 7th. This is our Homecoming

game against Howell, kickoff is at 7:00pm. It will be packed so get there
early to get a seat. You don’t want to miss this game its going to be
Awesome!

On another note we competed against a tough Pinckney squad last week at
their brand new stadium and won. If you have not seen their stadium yet it
is beautiful, very well done. Their community stepped up and supported their
athletic program and technology programs and passed a bond for their
district. We need to do this as well for our current students and all of our
young players who will be at the High School very soon. We need our school
district to ask our community to pass a bond for our students for
technology, building and athletic fields for maintenance and upgrades.
However our administration the Principal, Superintendent, Athletic Director,
and school board members need to hear from you that we as a community want
to pass a bond in order to benefit our students in many different areas.
Please feel free to email them all and express your desire for this
community to pass a bond and to pass a bond at the earliest
possible opportunity for our current students and future students.
